Gardening Top Tips
Rethink Rubbish offers the following five DIY tips for recycling in the garden:
- Make your own compost.
- Buy recycled plastic composters or make your own from scrap timber, old tyres, bricks or wire mesh, and use selected household rubbish - including newspaper, vegetable peelings and grass cuttings - to make compost.
- Cut empty drinks bottles in half to use as planters or bird feeders.
- Use empty yoghurt pots, small aluminium cans or papers egg cartons for seedlings.
- Cut old tyres in half to make into flower planters.
- Choose garden items made from recycled materials such as reclaimed railway sleepers or garden furniture made from recycled plastic.

We keep three separate bins at home for used cans, bottles and paper, then drop them off at the local supermarket recycling banks when we ago shopping. It's really that easy!
I'm a great believer that if everyone did a little, then it would go a long way to help the big problem of rubbish.
