‘Tis the season to rethink your rubbish!
Recycling Christmas cards and trees
- the Woodland Trust, the UK's leading woodland conservation charity, is relaunching its Christmas card Recycling Scheme. People will be able to recycle cards at all WHSmith high street stores and all major Tesco stores across the UK, from 6 January until 3 February 2003. This will be supported by waste management company Cleanaway.

- check to see if your favourite local charity shop is collecting old Christmas cards and stamps.
- find out if your local authority has a scheme for chipping trees to produce parks and garden mulch.
- find your nearest recycling banks by checking www.recycle-more.com or call the Waste Watch Wasteline.
- try to plan journeys to recycling facilities around essential trips such as shopping. This helps to minimise environmental impact and will save you time.

We keep three separate bins at home for used cans, bottles and paper, then drop them off at the local supermarket recycling banks when we ago shopping. It's really that easy!
I'm a great believer that if everyone did a little, then it would go a long way to help the big problem of rubbish.
